History 1957 - SelectoFlash starts in business, was named after and featured a product engineered to illuminate a flashing light as a warning used on road construction sites. . 1957 – 1960 The company manufactured traffic signs and construction site warning signs on reflective material in addition to supplying the flashers.. 1960 – Malcolm McLean originates the concept of containerization. James Peepas, owner and founder of SelectoFlash, supplies container manufacturers and engineers the development of vinyl films, adhesives, and inks to survive marine and diverse climate conditions around the world. The company successfully met the challenge of durability in exposure to salt water spray, intense ultra violet light exposure, and in temperature extremes of Saudi Arabia at 130 degrees F to minus 50 below zero in Alaska. 1970 – 1978 Marine container manufacturing moves to Europe and SelectoFlash opens a factory in North Wales, UK. The company furthers its international exposure by supplying and installing decals to several thousand containers for Puerto Rican Marine Service. 1979 – SelectoFlash applies its expertise to domestic fleets and expands its business here in the United States. The company starts supplying the developing Asian market from New Jersey with marine container decal sets and satisfies the stringent quality and delivery demands in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and South Korea 1984 – SelectoFlash opens a factory in Hong Kong to supply the growing Asian market. 1992 – Estelle Peepas assumes ownership of SelectoFlash. The company establishes a goal of switching from solvent based inks and starts it development to ultra violet inks. 1994 –.SelectoFlash enters the digital imaging market with its purchase of the Scotchprint 2000 machine suited for printing on a wide variety of flexible materials. The company supplied back lighted sign faces, banners, wall murals, displays, interior and exterior environmental graphics and expanded its line of materials suited for retail enhancement. 2000 to present – Valerie Shondel assumes ownership and is elected as Chairman of the Board. Valarie continues to run the company as a woman owned entity. SelectoFlash takes advantage of the latest developments in technology and adds a digital machine capable of produces single sheet images up to 65” X 145”. Soon after, the company adds the versatility of the micro calibrated flat bed press, to print on a growing selection of substrates for both interior and exterior applications. The company, on an ongoing basis, continues to develops its web based design, survey, ordering, shipping, fulfillment, installation, and after service module to better serve our clients.
